SYNOPSIS
FR | Dans un petit village de l’est de la France se répètent quotidiennement les mêmes gestes. Couper du bois, traire une vache, coudre un vêtement, faire sortir un légume de terre… sont autant d’actions répétées de génération en génération, de jour en jour jusqu’à l’épuisement des corps. À travers la figure de son père, le narrateur évoque son enfance passée dans ce village et son rapport à cet endroit où la dévotion au labeur fait le quotidien des habitants.
EN | In a small village in eastern France, the same gestures are carried on daily. Chopping wood, milking cows, sewing a garment, growing vegetables from the earth. These are all actions repeated from generation to generation, day after day, until bodies are exhausted. Through the figure of his father, the narrator evokes a childhood spent in this village and his relationship to a place where devotion to work is the daily routine of its inhabitants.
