À Natal dans le Nordeste, le Brésil s’apprête à lancer sa première fusée habitée dans l’espace. Un couple vit avec ses deux enfants près du centre spatial, elle y est femme de ménage, lui mécanicien, mais elle rêve d'autres horizons.
